چکیده

Abstract Background The precise role of Lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PlA2) in the pathogenesis acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and prediction future cardiovascular events is still debated. So far, few data exist on variations Lp-PlA2 activity ACS especially NSTE-ACS vs STEMI patients, where thrombotic atherosclerotic mechanisms could play a differential role. aim present study was, then, to compare according type presentation. Methods A consecutive cohort patients undergoing angiography for syndrome were included divided presentation non ST-segment elevation-ACS or elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI). Lp-PLA2 was assessed blood samples drawn at admission using Diazyme Activity Assay. Results We our 117 whom 31 (26.5%) presented with STEMI. significantly younger (p=0.05), displayed lower rate hypertension (p=0.002), previous MI (p=0.001) PCI (p=0.01) used less frequently statins clopidogrel (p=0.02). White cells glycemia increased (p=0.001, respectively). prevalence severity CAD not different types, but higher thrombus (p<0.001) TIMI flow (p=0.002) levels as compared (132±41.1 154.6 ±40.9 nmol/min/mL, p=0.01). In fact, above median (148 nmol/min/mL) (32.3% 57%, p=0.02, adjusted OR[95% CI]=0.20[0.06-0.68], p=0.010). Moreover, direct linear relationship observed between LDL-C (r=0.47, p<0.001), inflammatory biomarkers. Conclusion shows that among are inversely occlusion, being instead recurrent events, therefore potentially representing marker more aggressive disease burden risk.

Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2, a novel cardiovascular inflammatory marker, in HIV-infected patients.

BACKGROUND Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is an emerging biomarker of cardiovascular disease. This study was conducted to describe the distribution of Lp-PLA2 in a cohort of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected adults and to determine associations between Lp-PLA2, cardiometabolic risk factors, and subclinical atherosclerosis in this population. METHODS Lp-PLA2 was as...

Lipoprotein-Associated Phospholipase A2, Vascular Inflammation and Cardiovascular Risk Prediction

Circulating lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is a marker of inflammation that plays a critical role in atherogenesis; its inhibition may have antiatherogenic effects. Studies from the West of Scotland Coronary Prevention Study (WOSCOPS), Monitoring Trends and Determinants in Cardiovascular Diseases (MONICA) and Rotterdam cohorts have shown that Lp-PLA2 is an independent predict...

Lipoprotein profile, lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 and cardiovascular risk in hemodialysis patients.

BACKGROUND Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients; the increased risk of cardiovascular disease is due to accelerated atherosclerosis, inflammation and impaired lipoprotein metabolism. We aimed to evaluate lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) and some pro-inflammatory aspects of the lipoprotein profile in dialyzed patients in...

Lipoprotein-Associated Phospholipase A2 Activity Predicts Cardiovascular Events in High Risk Coronary Artery Disease Patients

OBJECTIVE Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is deemed to play a role in atherosclerosis and plaque destabilization as demonstrated in animal models and in prospective clinical studies. However, most of the literature is either focused on high-risk, apparently healthy patients, or is based on cross sectional studies. Therefore, we tested the hypothesis that serum Lp-PLA2 mass and...

Lipoprotein-Associated Phospholipase A2 Is Associated with Atherosclerotic Stroke Risk: The Northern Manhattan Study

BACKGROUND Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (LpPLA2) levels are associated with stroke, though whether this extends to all populations and stroke subtypes is unknown. METHODS Serum samples from stroke-free community participants in the Northern Manhattan Study were assayed for LpPLA2 mass and activity. Participants were followed annually for stroke. Cox-proportional-hazard models were ...
